Challenging Federal Court DUI Charges
If you were arrested for drunk driving on George Washington Parkway, in a federal park or on a military base, you will be prosecuted under federal DUI law. Not every attorney in Northern Virginia can handle these cases.
We do. Our attorneys at MacDowell Law Group, P.C., have been protecting the rights of the accused since 1995. We are prepared to put our experience to work for you.
Federal Implied Consent Law
If you are stopped on federal property for suspicion of drunk driving, you are subject to the federal implied consent law. This means you must submit to a breath or blood test. Depending on your prior record, refusal of a breath or blood test will result in suspension of your driving privileges, and may result in a federal prison sentence, a heavy fine or both.
The specific penalties for federal DUI/DWI vary depending on whether you were arrested on land owned by the National Park Service or by another unit of the federal government. For example, drinking and driving on land owned by the National Park Service is considered a Class B misdemeanor that carries up to $5,000 in fines and six months in prison. With this much at stake, it is essential that you seek experienced legal representation from MacDowell Law Group, P.C.
