Car Crashes into 7-Eleven in Fairfax County

On Saturday, September 22nd, emergency dispatchers working within the city of Alexandria and in Fairfax County began to receive reports of an auto accident that took place at a 7-Eleven located at 6120 Lincolnia Road. The convenience store is located within the boundaries of the city of Alexandria, and soon after the initial calls numerous emergency response units from within the city arrived to assist those possibly injured as well as conduct an initial investigation into the incident itself.

What we know so far is that, first off, no injuries were sustained as a result of the incident. Police with the Alexandria Police Department issued a statement that indicated that many of the details relating to the incident were not able to be released because the crash had yet to be put into the police system, but there were some factors which were evident even without the official police explanation.

A car was driving down Lincolnia Road close to 4:00 in the afternoon on Sunday when something happened to cause the driver to lose control of the vehicle. It is not clear which direction the car was traveling down the road and it is also not clear just what happened to cause the driver to lose control. No news from the authorities currently exists as to whether or not alcohol or speeding are being considered possible factors in the incident. It is also possible that the driver of the car fell asleep at the wheel or simply that they swerved off of the roadway in an attempt to avoid a collision. Either way, after they left the road they were not able to halt the vehicle's progress until after the car collided with the above-mentioned 7-Eleven.

When reporters working with a local news station reached the scene the driver of the car was still sitting behind the wheel. It is believed that they were removed from the car shortly afterward and that they were not injured in the crash.

The primary recipient of the force of the collision was an ATM that was either inside of the 7-Eleven or sitting outside in the direct path of the oncoming car.

Although it is not believed that any charges exist at this time the crash remains under investigation.
