Burke Woman Hospitalized, Pet Dog Dies after Crash with Intoxicated Driver

On Sunday, September 16th, a 28-year-old was driving a 1997 Mercedes along Lee Chapel Road, close to Onion Patch Drive, when something happened to cause them to lose control of their car. According to police officers speaking on behalf of the Fairfax County Police Department, it was close to 9:30 in the evening when this and the following events took place.

One Dead after Two-Car Crash in West Springfield

Rain is considered a large part of the reason behind a multi-vehicle crash that took place in West Springfield on Monday, September 17th. According to a report from the Fairfax County Police Department, it was sometime around 2:30 in the afternoon when calls first started reaching the emergency dispatchers regarding the incident, and emergency response vehicles arrived at the scene of the location shortly afterwards.

Pickup Truck Crashes into Springfield Shopping Center

A car collided with a building in Springfield this past week after a driver seemingly lost control of their vehicle while traveling through the area. According to early reports issued from the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue, the truck accident took place sometime close to 9:30 in the morning, and emergency response services were contacted shortly after the initial collision took place.

High-Speed Chase Through Arlington Leads to Hit-and-Run

Shortly before 10:00 in the morning, on Wednesday, September 12th, an officer on duty with the Arlington County Police Department was patrolling the area of 900 Army Navy Drive when they saw a car with windows that they believed to be illegally tinted. The officer then activated their emergency lights and initiated a routine traffic stop on the vehicle. At this time, the officer had also run the plates of the car and was aware that the person who was listed as the car's owner had a warrant out for their arrest due to felony probation violation.

Motorcyclist Hospitalized after Crash near Burke

A heavily trafficked road within the city of Burke in Fairfax County was shut down for much of the day on Tuesday, September 11th, after a crash between several cars happened and made the area impassible. Reports from the Fairfax County Police Department suggest that the accident involved a motorcycle and a larger vehicle, although it is not clear if this second vehicle was an SUV, a car, a pickup truck, or something else. The two were traveling along the well-known and well-driven Fairfax County Parkway when the collision took place. 

Driver Dies after Crash Near Alexandria in Fairfax County

Two cars were traveling down Old Mount Vernon Road in an area of Fairfax County located somewhat to the south of the city of Alexandria when something happened to cause them to collide with one another. Reports from the Fairfax County Police Department are currently misty as the investigation into the incident remains underway. We do know that following the crash one of the people involved died, but we are not informed regarding the identities, ages, or places of residence of any of those involved. 

Five Injured after SUV Rollover in Prince William County

Early in August, five individuals were sitting together in an SUV that was headed down the southward lane of Route 234 in Prince William County. Reports from the Virginia State Police put the time at close to 5:00 in the evening, and the area where the car was traveling was close to where Route 234 intersects with Interstate 66. This area is also close to the Northern Virginia Community College's Manassas Campus, and the SUV was drawing very near to this campus when a car headed down the northern lane of Route 234 suddenly swerved out of that lane and into the southbound lane. 

Pedestrian Killed in Falls Church Crash Identified

Several days ago, we reported on a crash in Falls Church that involved an unidentified pedestrian. The crash, which happened on Labor Day (Monday, September 3rd) happened sometime around 2:00 in the morning. During the initial investigation, the police either had not identified the woman or had not contacted any of the person's family to let them know about the incident. For this reason, the name of the person involved was withheld from the public until just recently. 

Reckless Driving Charges for Teen Involved in Fatal Prince William County Crash

A fatal crash in Prince William County that happened towards the end of July has resulted in charges being handed to the driver of a car that the investigating authorities believe to be the vehicle responsible for the death. Official reports from Prince William County Police described the initial incident a little over a month ago, when it happened. In the early reports, we learned that it was on the 24th of July when a 2018 Subaru Forester and a 2009 Chevrolet Malibu collided with one another at the intersection between Estate Manor Drive and Rollins Ford Road in the Prince William County town of Bristow. 

Two Transported to Hospital with Serious Injuries after Loudoun County Car Crash

Early in September, a car crash that happened in the Loudoun County city of Leesburg resulted in numerous lane closures along a highway passing through the area. According to reports from a spokesperson for the Loudoun County Sheriff, Kraig Troxell, the incident happened early in the morning of Monday, September 3rd and involved at least two cars that were traveling down Route 15. 

Vienna Motorist Rear-Ends Car at Intersection

Two cars are were involved in a minor auto accident in Vienna on Wednesday, September 5th, and although the incident was not fatal one person still found themselves needing to go to a nearby hospital in order to undergo observation. Details regarding the incident are scant, but we do know that it was somewhere around 11:00 in the morning when the crash, which happened at the intersection of Maple Avenue and Courthouse Road, took place. 

High Number of Motorist Deaths over Labor Day Weekend in Virginia

Labor Day weekend is normally a special time for families and friends to celebrate some of the later days of summer with a nice, long weekend. Cookouts, water sports, and general revelry are common during this time, and most people find themselves left with fond memories of the still long days and the slightly cooler nights. 

Hit-and-Run in Vienna Leads to Arrest and Numerous Charges

Police with the Vienna Police Department were called in response to an incident which happened towards the end of August. Specially, it was on Saturday, August 25th, and close to 6:30 in the morning when two cars were driving along Maple Avenue East and became involved in a collision that turned into a hit-and-run

A cyclist traveling through the area of Echols Street and East Street in Vienna on Sunday, August 19th, was involved in an accident after being struck by a car trying to make a left turn from East onto Echols shortly before 7:00 in the morning. While information relating to the incident is limited to the few sentences written up by the police for the City of Vienna's Website, we do know much of the important information. Any additional facts that result from the Vienna Police's investigation will likely reach the public through the official channels of this governing body, although it is not known if an investigation into the crash is considered ongoing or if the police have concluded any examination into the events and why the occurred.

Virginia Construction Worker Hospitalized After Being Hit by Dump Truck

An incident towards the end of last month resulted in an emergency flight to a Fairfax County hospital for a person working on a construction site within the city of Fairfax. Preliminary reports from the Fairfax Police Department and the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue suggest that the construction accident happened close to midnight, as road workers within the county were engaged in their work at the intersection of Monument Drive and Monument Way. 

Duo Faces Slew of Charges after High Speed Chase in Fairfax County

It was close to 5:30 in the evening when an officer with the Annandale Police Department noticed a car with windows tinted to an illegal extent and decided initiate a traffic stop. To the officer's surprise, when the lights on the cruiser were activated the driver of the car in question began, instead of pulling over, to speed up. As the officer continued to pursue the vehicle, the driver of the car with the tinted windows began driving even faster, and soon the two vehicles were engaged in an all-out chase. 

Man Driving Luxury Sports Car Dies in Collision on Old Mount Vernon Road

This past Friday, August 24th, police responded to reports of an auto accident along Old Mount Vernon Road's 8900 block at close to 9:30 in the evening. It is not clear who called the police to report the incident, although it is possible that an occupant in one of the two cars involved was the one to make the call in the moments after the collision itself took place. Initial reports from the Mount Vernon Police Department withheld the name of the individual in question, although it is not clear if this is because the police were initially unable to identify them or if the family had not given authority for the police to release the information. 

Dump Truck Overturns along I-495, Spills Dirt Across Highway

On the morning of Thursday, August 16th, calls began to reach emergency response teams working within Fairfax County that reported a dump truck accident that had taken place along a ramp that connected Interstate 495's outer loop with Interstate 66. First responders, including numerous units with the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue team, rushed to the area and found the crash as reported, but they were also confronted with an incredible amount of debris along the roadway that indicated any cleanup would take a significant amount of time. 

Three Car Crash at Vienna Intersection

Vienna emergency crews responded to an auto accident that happened on Thursday, August 23rd at the intersection of Lawyers Road and Church Street. According to a report from the Vienna Police department, the event involved at least three cars: one traveling down Lawyers Road's southern lanes, another traveling down Lawyers Road's northern lanes, and the third headed down the western lanes of Church Street. The three vehicles reached the intersection at around the same time. While the report included information to indicate that a stop sign controls traffic traveling along Church Street, it did not state whether or not there is any sort of sign to govern traffic traveling along Lawyers Road.

Men Arrested after Car Chase in Fairfax County

A helter-skelter car chase through Fairfax County has resulted in two individuals facing many charges while authorities deliberate on handing the duo even additional charges in relation to the incident. It began under somewhat murky circumstances, but we do know that whatever altercation emerged between the two individuals and the police department resulted in a high-speed chase on Tuesday, August 28th. 

Cyclist Badly Injured in Lorton Crash with Pickup Truck

In the later days of August (on Tuesday, the 21st), police working with the Fairfax County Police department within the city of Lorton found themselves responding to reports of and incident along Peniwill Drive and Ox Road. It is not clear who called the officers to the location, but when they arrived they found that a car had struck a bicycle and its rider, and that the subsequent injuries inflicted upon the rider were severe.
