Chantilly Hit-and-Run Driver Arrested

Police working within the city of Chantilly became involved in a high-speed chase down Braddock Road as well as Riding Center Drive after a car allegedly struck at least one other car that was traveling in the same area. Official reports from the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office indicate that the suspect, a 30-year-old from Marshall, was behind the wheel of an car that was not described in the initial reports when they began to drive down either Braddock Road or Riding Center Drive. At the same time, another vehicle was either driving through or parked in a nearby location.

The first calls to the police came into the station at around 5:00 in the evening, after witnesses began to report a car striking another vehicle and then the driver of the first car fleeing the scene. Police immediately began to head to the area in question, but it was while they were on their way that the officers caught sight of the offending car, driving away from the scene.

Officers immediately activated their emergency lights and began to pursue the fleeing driver. The 30-year-old behind the wheel of the car attempted to elude capture by turning off of the main road and driving down smaller, less easily navigable streets.

The pursuing officers were, however, far from deterred and soon numerous police units were following the fleeing man as he made tried with increasing pointlessness to escape capture.

Somewhere in the area of the 25000 block of the Loudoun County Parkway, the man struck a second occupied car. This collision must have disabled his own vehicle in some way because then the driver opened the door and tried to escape from the authorities on foot. Unfortunately for him, the efforts being made to escape from the police department were doomed. Officers were able to apprehend the man in question while he was still near to the area where he dumped his car.

At the time of this writing, it is not clear if any of the people in the cars struck by the motorist were injured as a result of the collisions.

An investigation into the situation is currently underway.
