Virginia Man Totals McLaren Supercar a Day After Purchase

An unnamed individual from the Fairfax County Area was admitted to a hospital this past Saturday after being involved in a single-car accident while driving through the area of Great Falls. The incident was first reported on by the Fairfax County Police Department, and the Twitter post where they discussed the crash transformed from an informative piece into a warning about the potential dangers involved in excessive speeding.

Several factors combined to make the crash in Great Falls event so memorable. For one thing, the level of destruction suffered by the car is stunning. Pictures show the vehicle along the side of the road, and it is almost a miracle that anyone inside could have emerged from the wreck in anything less than a fatal condition.

The second factor that made the collision such a memorable event was that the car, a McLaren 720S, costs over $300,000.

The third event, perhaps the most memorable of them all, is that this luxury vehicle was only purchased on Friday, the day before the crash that transformed it into a pile of bent metal and broken glass.

While the driver of the car was not identified in the reports from the Fairfax County Police, we do know that the single car crash happened around 7:45 in the morning, somewhere along the 1000 block of Walker Road. This location lies close to Georgetown Pike, about only a half-a-mile away, and while it is not known if the driver of the car had traveled or was intending to drive down this busy roadway, it is fortunate for other motorists on the road at that time that the incident took place in a remote area rather than on the heavily trafficked turnpike.

As a result of the violent crash, the driver of the vehicle suffered from non life-threatening injuries. They were taken to a hospital nearby and began receiving medical treatment. It was not immediately clear if they were able to be released soon after arriving or if they remain in medical care.

At the time of this writing, investigators are chalking the incident up to excessive speed. It is not believed that anyone else was inside of the McLaren 720S at the time of the incident.
