One Dead, One Injured in Nokesville Head-On Crash

A two car crash that happened on Saturday, July 7th, inside the area of Nokesville in Prince William County left one person dead and another recovering from injuries at a nearby hospital according to officers working with the Prince William County Police Department. The reports that have surfaced at this time indicated that the incident happened during the morning commute, just around 6:00 a.m., and that police were notified shortly after the collision itself. It is not known whether or not one of the people involved in the crash notified the authorities or if they were contacted by a witness or a person who passed by the scene.

The reconstruction of the events as they happened is only partial, and the investigation by the Prince William County Police is still ongoing. What is currently available to the public is the information that the collision occurred along Nokesville Road, north of Fauquier Drive, inside Nokesville itself. The crash appears to have involved only two cars that were traveling in opposite directions down Nokesville Road.

It is not clear just what happened, but the reports suggest that the two cars collided head on. This means that one or both of the drivers involved lost control of their car-even if only for a moment-and drifted into the opposite lane while traveling in the wrong direction. Before the driver or drivers could correct the problem, and before the other driver could avoid them, the two cars hit one another in a head-on crash.

As we have written before, head-on collision are some of the most dangerous and deadly of crashes that happen on the road. This is because the force of the crash is not that of a single car but of the velocity of two cars combined.

In the case of the incident on July 7th, the collision between the two cars resulted in bad damage to both vehicles as well as injuries to the two people inside. One of them, a 31-year-old Nokesville resident, suffered from fatal injuries and was declared dead at the scene. The other, a 48-year-old person from Fredericksburg, was also injured and taken to a nearby hospital. Their injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.
