Early Morning Crash in Reston Kills Two

This past Sunday, July 15th, several people were traveling through Fairfax County when they were involved in a car accident. Reports from the Fairfax County Police Department indicate that the incident happened along the Fairfax County Parkway, inside the city of Reston, and around 2:00 in the morning.

While many of the details pertaining to the crash are not yet known or have yet to be released by the Fairfax County Police Department, we do know that the incident involved a 2004 Acura, and that most, if not all, of the people involved were inside of this car. It is not clear if any other vehicles were involved in the incident or if it was just the one car.

The driver of the Acura, a person who was not immediately identified in the early reports, lost control of the vehicle as they were traveling down the Fairfax County Parkway. Due to this, the car left the road and collided into something on the shoulder. It is not clear if the car impacted a tree, a median, a wall, or if it rolled over, but something happened to cause the numerous people inside of the vehicle to suffer from catastrophic injuries.

Either witnesses to the crash or some of the less badly injured people from the car itself called 9-1-1 and emergency response teams from throughout Fairfax County were soon on the scene. When they reached the area, the members of these teams began to immediately offer assistance to the victims of the crash. Two of these people, a 21-year-old Sterling resident and a 23-year-old Reston resident suffered from fatal injuries and were not able to be treated. They were declared dead at the scene. Two other individuals were badly injured and paramedics transported them to a nearby hospital where they began to receive advanced medical treatment. It is not known if these two people are still recovering or if they have since been released from the medical center.

An investigation into the crash is currently ongoing, and police with the Fairfax County Police Department are asking anyone who might have information on the incident to contact them. Currently, the Fairfax County Police are operating under the belief that both speed and excessive consumption of alcohol played a role in the deadly incident.
