Woman Arrested on DUI After Traffic Stop in Fairfax

Fairfax County Police have issued a brief news bulletin on a DUI arrest that took place on June 11th after an officer working within the city of Fairfax pulled over a driver as part of a routine traffic stop. Preliminary information suggests that the incident was not connected to any sort of collision or injury, but that instead the driver of the car was driving their vehicle in a way that the on-duty police officer found to be erratic and potentially dangerous. The report did not indicate if any other traffic laws were violated (such as running a red light or failing to stop at a stop sign), and all we know is that the driver pulled over by the Fairfax County Police Officer was piloting their vehicle in a way that led the officer to believe there might be a problem within the cab.

The driver was making their way down the 11100 block of Lee Highway, shortly before 7:00 in the evening, when the officer noticed them. After the initial check on the vehicles license plates, the officer approached the car and began to interact with the driver. It was during the course of this interaction that the Fairfax County Police Officer determined that the driver was, in fact, intoxicated. The report failed to state what it was that made the officer reach this conclusion, and it also failed to state whether or not any field sobriety tests were performed on the individual or if they took a Breathalyzer test.

As per regulation, the officer then arrested the woman, believed to be a 52-year-old Fairfax resident, and took her to the Adult Detention Center. It is not known how long the individual remained at the center before they were able to post their bail (which had been set at $8000) and leave the building.

At the time of this writing, we know only that the civilian driver has been charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol. No information lay in the report to suggest when a court date might occur or if any other charges were handed down to the woman.
