Road Rage Assault and Hit-and-Run in Manassas

| Jun 21, 2018 | Hit And Run Accidents |

An incident of road rage is believed to be responsible for the numerous injuries sustained by a woman traveling through Manassas on Wednesday, June 13th. Reports from the Prince William County Police indicated that the incident happened along Prince William County Parkway, close to where this road intersects with Hastings Drive. Reports from the Prince William County Police provided enough information to create a fairly complete picture of the terrible events and their aftermath.

It was close to 6:00 in the evening, right in the middle of the rush hour traffic congestion, when two vehicles, were involved in a minor traffic incident at the above-mentioned intersection. It seems that a 22-year-old woman driving a 2007 Toyota Scion was attempting to merge off of Prince William County Parkway and onto Hastings Drive. The other driver, an 60-year-old senior citizen, was driving a 2011 Ford F150 and was apparently unable to properly operate his vehicle. For reasons that are not clear, he fumbled with his truck’s breaking mechanism and was ultimately unable to stop himself from lightly striking the back of the Scion.

Both drivers then exited their vehicles to examine the damage.

During the interaction, the two people became involved in an argument. The elderly man then decided that the best way to solve things was to hit the woman in the face multiple times. He then grabbed her and tried dragging her back to her car. The young woman was not deterred and she continued to pursue the elderly man, likely in an attempt to get his insurance information for the damage caused when he struck her car.

The elderly man climbed into his car, and the woman stood on his running board, still trying to get him to obey the law and wait until the police arrived. Instead, the elderly man abruptly placed his car into drive and accelerated away. The jolt knocked the woman off of the running board and onto the road in such a way that one of her legs was lying underneath the car. The elderly man then over the woman’s leg before speeding away.

Fortunately, numerous witnesses to the incident recorded the information on the truck, and police were able to apprehend the driver of the Ford the following day. He is held without bond on charges of Malicious Wounding, Assault and Battery, and Hit and Run.
