On Friday afternoon in Annandale, police with the Fairfax County Police Department took to Twitter to warn motorists to avoid the area of Little River Turnpike and Evergreen Lane in the city of Annandale. The post indicated that an incident had occurred that resulted in massive lane closures, specifically along the western-headed lanes of the Little River Turnpike. Additional reports that have surfaced since the incident that happened on April 27th suggest that the accident that resulted in the lane closures involved two cars and resulted in the injury and possible hospitalization of at least one individual.
There is much we do not know about the crash, but the early reports suggest that it happened on Little River Turnpike, close to where this road intersects with Evergreen lane. It was not immediately clear if the incident took place at the intersection of these two streets or if the crash happened nearby, before or after the cars involved passed by the intersection.
We do not know what happened to cause the two cars to collide. If it was in the intersection, it is possible that one of the cars was turning while the other was driving through the place where the two roads meet. If this is the case, the investigation will likely place emphasis on discovering which of the two vehicles had the right of way at the time of the collision. It is not unreasonable to think that the incident might have happened after or before the intersection. Everything we can say regarding the place of the incident and the reasons behind it is mere speculation at this time, and we are waiting on additional reports from the Fairfax County Police Department before offering any additional information regarding the reasons for the collision.
Information regarding the condition of the injured individual is also scant, and at the time of this writing we are not even sure if the injured person was transported to a nearby hospital or if they were able to be treated at the scene of the crash.
No news has emerged to let us know if any charges are pending in the case or if either of the two people involved were being seen as the primary agent behind the collision.
