Teen Dies in Crash on Prince William Parkway

Officers working with the Prince William County Police Department responded with paramedics throughout the same area to reports of an early morning crash along Prince William Parkway on Wednesday. Reports from the Prince William County Police Department indicate that the accident happened close to 1:15 in the morning and involved a single vehicle and its driver. An investigation is currently underway to determine just what happened to cause the crash and its subsequent fatality.

Haymarket Bus-Truck Crash Results in Fatality

Many news reports exist by this time discussing an incident that took place in the Prince William County city of Haymarket on May 23rd. These reports, as well as official statements from the Prince William County Police Department, indicate that the incident took place close to 8:00 in the morning and involved a school bus and a landscape truck. The crash happened in the vicinity of Old Carolina Road and Piedmont Vista Drive.

Fatal Early Morning Crash in Loudoun County

Much of the normal pursuits of people over the course of the three days involve being outdoors: fishing, hiking, camping, kayaking, etc. An extremely popular form of enjoying the outdoors also comes in the form of motorized off-road vehicles. This includes things like riding dirt bikes and ATVs. On Saturday night, a Haymarket man in Prince William County was doing just this when he was involved in an accident that cost him his life.

Minor Injuries After Collision in Vienna

A person in Vienna suffered from minor injuries after a two car crash along Follin Lane and Hine Street on Wednesday, May 23rd. Police with the Vienna Police Department issued a brief statement regarding the incident in their weekly roundup of news points for the press and interested civilians. A two car collision in Vienna on Saturday, May 12th, has resulted in one person being issued a summons for having failed to yield to another vehicle who possessed the right of way. A report from the Vienna Police Department working inside of Fairfax County indicates that the accident took place at 115 Park Street, shortly before 12:30 in the afternoon. Only two vehicles were involved in this lunch-hour collision, and the first was driving down the southern lanes of Park Street.

Herndon Hit-and-Run Leaves Fairfax Police Looking for Culprit

Police in Herndon and Fairfax County are currently searching for an individual believed to be involved in a traffic accident as well as an armed robbery that took place inside of Herndon, on Saturday, May 19th. Initial reports suggest that the incident began with the collision between two cars at the intersection of West Ox Road and the Fairfax County Parkway at close to 3:30 in the afternoon. The Fairfax Police Department reported that after the accident happened both of the drivers pulled their cars over to the side of the road.

Fatal Collision With Tractor-Trailer in Sterling

Police working within Loudoun County are in the process of investigating an incident that led to the death of a 42-year-old man from Toledo, Ohio. Initial reports from the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office indicate that the accident took place inside of the city of Sterling, shortly before 9:00 in the morning on May 21st. While the majority of the facts relating to this particular case have yet to be released by the authorities in charge of the investigation, we do know many of the basic elements of the case.

Pedestrian Killed in Reston Accident

Shortly before noon on Monday, May 21st, a woman was crossing the street at the intersection of Reston Parkway and Bluemont Way in Reston when she was struck by a passing car. The collision, which is still in the process of being investigated, has resulted in the Fairfax County Police Tweeting to alert drivers about the high possibility for significant delays in the area while the crash is investigated and the area secured. At the time of this writing, much of the information regarding the details of the incident is still unknown, although the few statements given so far by the Fairfax County Police do shed a small sliver of light on the issue.

Central Virginia Organization Reports on Dramatic Increase in Pedestrian Deaths

A report from the central Virginia-based Insurance Institute for Highway Safety released earlier this month focused on the disturbing fact that the number of fatal incidents between cars and pedestrians is rising at a rapid rate. According to the IIHS, the least number of incidents and fatalities between cars and pedestrians in recent times was in 2009. Since that year, the report finds a 46 percent spike in the number of pedestrian deaths in car/pedestrian accidents.

Truck Crashes into Power Pole in Alexandria

Drivers attempting to pass through Old Town Alexandria using the 400 block of Duke Street on Thursday, May 17th, were forced to choose alternate routes after an incident occurred along this stretch of road that rendered it impassible and dangerous. Reports from the police as well as the Port City Wire indicated that the incident involved a large truck and a power pole, and that the collision between these two resulted in numerous downed power lines.

Fatal Crash on Fairfax County Parkway in Springfield

A collision in Fairfax County this past Thursday afternoon has resulted in the death of at least one individual. Initial reports from the Fairfax County Police indicate that the collision involved two vehicles. These reports also indicate that none of the other people involved were injured.

Two Fairfax Students Injured After Bus Accident

Parents within Fairfax County received a unwelcome surprise when reports began coming in about a collision on Commonwealth Boulevard and Sideburn Road that involved a school bus carrying students to their classes. A report from the police working within Fairfax County indicated that the incident happened on Monday, May 14th, sometime during the morning. The reports did not immediately specify what time the collision is believed to have taken place.

Man Charged with DUI, Felony Hit-and-Run Following Fatal Virginia Crash

On Friday, May 11th, Virginia State Police found themselves involved in chasing down a perpetrator behind several hit-and-run incidents along Interstate 66 as well as Interstate 495. Reports from the officers involved indicate that the person believed to be responsible for the incidents came from Maryland and was driving a Honda Accord.

Tractor-Trailer Crashes on Arlington Sidewalk

Motorists looking to travel along the eastern lanes of Wilson Boulevard in Arlington's Rosslyn neighborhood on Friday, May 4th, were met with severe delays and detours after an incident that involved a tractor-trailer navigating through the area. The full details surrounding the incident are not currently available to the public, but the Arlington County Police did release some statements and Twitter messages in reference to the event. According to the ACP, the crash involved a single tractor-trailer that was traveling down the eastern lanes of Wilson Boulevard, close to the intersection of Wilson Boulevard and Fort Meyer Drive.

Fatal Motorcycle Crash in Manassas

On Friday, May 11th, a 25-year-old man from Manassas was riding a 2015 Kawasaki Ninja 650 down the western lane of Portsmouth Road. The man on his motorcycle was traveling at an unspecified rate of speed when, as he closed in on the intersection of Portsmouth Road and Deward Court, he lost control of the motorcycle.

Warrenton Man Dies in Single Car Crash

A 60-year-old Warrenton resident died early in May in Prince William County after losing control of their vehicle and colliding with a tree. An official report from the Prince William County Police Department places the location of the incident on the 9700 block of Brentsville Road, close to where this road crosses with Sinclair Road, and within the city limits of Manassas. It was very close to 8:00 in the morning when the Crash Investigation Unit with the Prince William County Police Department arrived on the scene of the incident, although the report did not make clear if this was around the time of the crash itself or if the authorities currently believe the incident to have taken place at some earlier, unspecified time.

Stafford Motorcyclist Dies in Collision with Truck

A crash between a motorcycle and a car in Prince William County resulted in the death of at least one person on Wednesday, May 3rd. Official reports from the Prince William County Police Department indicate that the crash happened during the evening, and that it only involved two vehicles: a pickup truck and a motorcycle. Riding the motorcycle was a 34-year-old individual from Stafford.

Two Tractors Collide in Prince William County

A little over a week ago, first responders throughout Prince William County began receiving reports of an incident that had taken place along Interstate 95, close to the city of Dumfries. Official statements taken from the Prince William County Police Department indicate that the accident towards which all the emergency response crews were headed took place very early in the morning and involved two tractor-trailers.

Crash Between Alexandria Officer and Civilian Sends Officer to Hospital

A collision between a police cruiser with the Alexandria Police Department and a civilian vehicle resulted in the cruiser being shoved off of the road and into a building near the street early in April. The incident, which happened on Tuesday, April 3rd, resulted in the officer on duty in the cruiser being taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. An official report filed by the Alexandria police department states that the crash is still under investigation while the authorities attempt to discover just what happened to cause the two cars to ram into one another with such force.

Motorcyclist Dies in Old Town Alexandria Crash

On Saturday, May 5th, police with the Alexandria Police Department working in Old Town responded to reports of a motorcycle accident near the intersection of Patrick Street and Wilkes Street. The report filed by the Alexandria Police Department indicated that the incident happened close to 7:45 in the morning, during the peak of rush hour. It is not clear exactly what transpired to cause the incident, but we know that it involved a motorcycle and two cars.

One Dead, Unknown Number Injured in Fairfax County Collision

Shortly after 2:00 in the afternoon, an off-duty police officer with the Prince George County Police Department was behind the wheel of an Infiniti sedan and driving down the southern lanes of Interstate 395 in Fairfax County. According to the report from the Fairfax Police Department, the officer, who had been with the Prince George's County Police Department for nearly 12 years, was nearing the Edsall Road exit, north of Interstate 495, when they suffered what police are calling a "medical emergency."

Two Car Crash in Vienna Results in Minor Injuries

Police with the Vienna Police Department working within Fairfax County were called in to the scene of an incident that took place at 133 Maple Avenue East on Thursday, May 3rd. According to the official report published on the Vienna PD's website, the crash involved two vehicles, one of which was driving down Maple Avenue while the other was attempting to turn from private property onto the same road.

Collision at Busy Intersection Downs Power Lines in Fairfax County

A incident west of the Interstate 495 Beltway inside of Fairfax County has resulted in the downing of numerous power lines and the creation of a significant traffic snarl in a heavily trafficked intersection. Reports as to the precise cause of the incident are still in the process of emerging from the Fairfax Police Department and other emergency response crews inside of Fairfax County, but we do know that the accident took place at some point in the late morning or early afternoon.

Pickup Truck Driver Hospitalized After Truck Rolls Down I-85 Embankment

Police in Petersburg are investigating an incident that resulted in the critical injury of a truck driver after a collision along Interstate 85, close to the 68th mile marker, which happened on Tuesday morning, April 24th. The incident, which took place in I-85's northbound lanes, happened inside of the city of Petersburg and is being investigated by the Virginia State Police. Two Die in Springfield After Single-Car Crash

Virginia State Police working inside of Springfield in Fairfax County responded, this past Friday, to reports of a crash that happened along Interstate 495, close to the crossover of the interstate and Eisenhower Avenue. Two Car Crash in Annandale, One Injury

On Friday afternoon in Annandale, police with the Fairfax County Police Department took to Twitter to warn motorists to avoid the area of Little River Turnpike and Evergreen Lane in the city of Annandale. The post indicated that an incident had occurred that resulted in massive lane closures, specifically along the western-headed lanes of the Little River Turnpike. Additional reports that have surfaced since the incident that happened on April 27th suggest that the accident that resulted in the lane closures involved two cars and resulted in the injury and possible hospitalization of at least one individual.

Fatal Car vs Pedestrian Collision in Arlington

A crash that happened in Arlington early on the morning of Monday, April 30th, and left one person dead is under investigation by police with the Arlington County Police Department. Preliminary reports suggest that only one car and one pedestrian were involved in the fatal incident which happened at the intersection of South Queen Street and Columbia Pike shortly after 7:00, just when the morning rush hour was reaching its peak.

Loudoun County Sheriff's Office Arrest Man on DUI Charges

On a Monday late in April, a police officer in the Loudoun County town of Sterling was on patrol somewhere in the city. It was early in the morning, and the officer in question was in their cruiser, watching traffic and ensuring that all passing motorists were obeying the posted road rules and generally driving safely. Shortly before 2:00 in the morning, the officer received a call over their radio indicating that there was a rear-end collision that was close to their vicinity. The officer then redirected their vehicle to the area reported in the call.

Numerous Charges, Including DUI, for Teen in Fairfax County

report from the Sully District Station inside of Fairfax County details an incident that took place early in the morning of Saturday, April 21st, along the 13000 block of Lee Jackson Memorial Highway. An officer working with the Fairfax County Police Department was on patrol in the area when they noticed a car driving by swerve out of its lane. It is not clear how long the car was in the wrong lane, or if it was able to correct its course shortly after the mistake, but the swerve was enough for the officer to become suspicious.
