Speed, Alcohol Factors In Fatal Great Falls Crash

An investigation into a fatal crash that took place on September 16th of 2017 has finally progressed after police with the Great Falls Police Department determined that both speed and alcohol consumption played a role in the incident. The initial report on the crash described how Wenger, a 26-year-old Annandale resident, Ryan, a 23-year-old Great Falls resident, and an unnamed 15-year-old girl, were in a car that Wenger was driving down Beach Mill Road towards Springvale Road. On a Monday morning earlier this month authorities with the Fairfax County Police Department responded to reports of an accident inside of a construction zone located in the 10000 block of Lorton's Furnace Lane. The initial report on the incident failed to provide much detail other than to say that what happened took place within the construction site, during working hours, and resulted in the death of one individual. No other specifics (including the name of the individual involved, whether or not anyone else was injured, whether or not the deceased individual was a construction worker, and what happened to cause the death) were included in the report.

Driver Behind Hit-and-Run in Falls Church Arrested

An investigation into a crash that took place earlier this month has received a jolt of life after the perpetrator of the incident was caught this past week. The crash, which happened on January 6th, involved two cars at the intersection of North Washington Street and Columbia Street in Falls Church. The initial statement from the Fairfax Police Department recounted how the cars had approached the intersection at perpendicular angles. One of the cars had a red light, the other had a green light, but as the driver of the car facing the green light began to travel through the intersection the driver of the second car, facing the red light, ignored their traffic signal and attempted to pass through the intersection as well.

A little over a week ago on Sunday two people were involved in a car accident in Annandale that left both of them injured and one trapped inside of their vehicle until police could reach them. Details on the crash are not widely known, and the initial statements from the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department, all of which appeared on Twitter, gave only bits and pieces of the event for us to reconstruct.

Drastic Increase in DWI Arrests Throughout Fairfax County in 2017

Police with the Fairfax County Police Department recently issued a report on the number of DWIs that have taken place throughout Fairfax County during 2017, and the numbers paint a picture that is simultaneously concerning and comforting. The stark facts state that the number of DWI arrests throughout Fairfax County rose between 2016 and 2017 to the tune of nearly 200 people. Vienna Commuter Crashes in Heavy Snow

Last Thursday, much of the eastern seaboard was rocked by a blast of arctic cold and hurricane-like conditions that brought freezing temperatures and snow to many places that were woefully unprepared for such weather. Our state was not spared the chill, and road conditions especially became rapidly treacherous, especially for those who were forced to commute long distances in the early hours of the morning.

Police Chase in Herndon Ends with Numerous Charges, Including DUI

A police chase throughout Herndon that took place on December 30th concluded, thankfully, with the pursued suspect being arrested and given numerous charges. The official report on the incident states that a 33-year-old Sterling resident Rojo-Cervates was driving a vehicle throughout Herndon when, for reasons that were not made clear in the initial report, they became the subject of a police chase. Although the specific reasons behind the police's pursuit of Rojo-Cervates are not clear, it seems probable, based on the later incidents involving the same man, that he was driving erratically and irresponsibly and police with the Herndon Police Department attempted to make a routine traffic stop which resulted in Rojo-Cervates fleeing from the officers.

Fatal New Year's Crash on GW Parkway

New Years Eve is a magical time for billions of people throughout the world. In America as well, we treat the changing of the calendar year as an intensely powerful moment, and we celebrate with unbridled enthusiasm as the last digit on our clocks and phones rolls upwards. It is proof that we are, despite all attempts made by some to roll history back to some previous state, moving into the future. Unfortunately, as well as the celebration, the transition into a new year brings with it a dip into the pool of excess. Drinking and drunk driving are especially common around this time of year, and the accidents associated with these activities are similarly high.

Drunk Driver Collides with Alexandria Police Cruiser in Hit-and-Run

The day after Christmas, a police officer with the Alexandria Police Department was on duty and performing a routine patrol along King Street. The officer in question had been on duty since Christmas day, and the clock on the cruiser's dashboard had just begun creeping towards 2:00 a.m. It was as the officer neared the intersection of King Street and Henry Street that another vehicle entered the picture. It is believed that this second driver was intoxicated and traveling above the posted limit and that they failed to operate with the caution and care appropriate to the time of day and the posted road laws.

Police with the Fairfax County Police Department are working to tie together all the loose ends of a bizarre series of accidents and assaults that took place throughout Centreville and Herndon a little over a week ago on Wednesday. It began in the Evening, when a man who has since been identified as the 28-year-old Vinson, a resident of Adelphi, Maryland, knocked on the door of a home located in Centreville, along the 6100 block of Early Autumn Drive. The residents of the home say that they do not know the man in question and have no explanation for his subsequent actions.
