Fatal Christmas Day Crash in Springfield

On Christmas Day, while millions of people throughout Virginia were celebrating the holidays, singing carols, and opening presents, an unnamed individual was driving through Springfield when they lost control of their car and crashed. The Fairfax County Police issued an initial report which details the most important facts around this case, although the report makes clear to point out that the entire incident is still under investigation.

Three Car Crash in Centerville, Officer Hit

Last Thursday in Centerville, a large dump truck was driving down the southern lanes of Route 28, close to this road's intersection with Interstate 66, when an incident occurred that resulted in the truck overturning. According to the initial report from the Fairfax County Police Department, the crash involved a car, a box truck, and the already mentioned dump truck. While the report failed to provide many specific details around the events of the accident, it seems that the ordeal began when the dump truck and the car collided in some way.

Fairfax Co. Hit-and-Run Closes Route 28

Last Tuesday, officers with the Fairfax County Police Department apprehended an individual that they suspect was involved in an accident which occurred on Route 28 in Herndon. According to the initial report, Fairfax County Police responded to a call placed at close to 3:30 in the afternoon that indicated an accident had taken place in the southern lanes of Route 28.

Two Injured in Fairfax County Crash

A little over a week ago, Alexandria firefighters, police officers, and paramedics rushed to the scene of a reported multi-car crash along the 1100 block of Braddock Road. News about the vehicles involved in the crash as well as the condition of those injured is scant, however the Twitter feed of the Alexandria Police Department as well as reporting done on the local Patch website and the Alexandria Times provided the public with the bulk of details available.

Annandale Police Arrest Man for Hit-and-Run

Last Tuesday, officers with the Annandale Police Department became involved in a chase of a vehicle suspected of being involved in-and perhaps instigating-a crash in the Gallows Road and Annandale Road area. According to the official report from the Annandale Police Department, the incident began at around 5:40 in the evening after calls to dispatchers in the Annandale area alerted police and other emergency teams to a crash that happened at the intersection of Gallows Road and Annandale Road.

Reston Hit-and-Run Sends Pedestrian to Hospital

Few details have been reported regarding an accident that took place in Reston late Tuesday night, however police with the Fairfax County Police Department have issued a statement that goes over some of the more pertinent information on the incident. It seems that at some time before 8:00 in the evening, a person who has not been described in any way and remains unnamed was walking along the street when he approached the point where Reston Parkway and South Lakes Drive intersect.

Fatal Falls Church Car vs Motorcycle Collision

On Monday, close to 4:00 in the afternoon, Green-Smith, a 20-year-old Falls Church resident, was riding his motorcycle down the eastern lanes of Arlington Boulevard (also referred to as Route 50) when he approached the intersection of Arlington Boulevard and South Street. It is not known exactly what occurred next to cause the following incident, but the report from the Fairfax County Police say that it was while Green-Smith was in the intersection that he collided with a car.

Friday Night Crash Leaves One Dead in Sterling

An investigation into a crash that happened last Friday night has led police in the towns of Reston and Sterling to discover the identity of the individual from Herndon who died in the incident. According to reports from the police, the crash took place late in the evening, and involved at least two vehicles. One of these vehicles was parked along the 700 block of Colonial Avenue. The second vehicle, being driven by the 39-year-old Herndon resident Rivera, had turned down the road in his 1997 Dodge Ram when he lost control of the car.

Fairfax Driver Indicted on Murder Charge in April Hit-And-Run Case

An investigation into a hit-and-run accident that occurred in Fairfax this past April is finally reaching its concluding stages after Fairfax County Police charged the person believed to have instigated the incident with murder. When the crash first occurred, the initial reports detailed how Ascencio, a 75-year-old Fairfax resident was on foot by Rugby Road, close to where it intersects with U.S. 50, when she tried to cross the street.

Multi-Car Crash in McLean During Rush-Hour Results in Tremendous Delays

A multi-car crash on the Capital Beltway and Interstate 495 in McLean resulted in one of the worst traffic jams this year for commuters in the greater DC area. According to the initial report and the statement from the Fairfax County director of public affairs, Castrilli, the snarl of traffic that occurred after the crash was one of the worst in the area's recent history.

Manassas Man Charged with Hit-and-Run and DUI

Several Sundays ago, Virginia State Police rushed to respond to reports of an accident along Interstate 66, near to the 48th mile marker in the westbound lanes. According to the official report, the accident, which is being treated as a hit-and-run and a DUI, resulted in the death of one person as well as the injuries of two others. The events as they have currently been recounted indicate that a 58-year-old man from Manassas, Tran, was behind the death and injuries.
